I’ve been working on some drawings for an animation project I’m doing with some friends. I’m mostly done, but there’s lot more to go. On the side, I’m drawing some things for my friend’s class animation project. He came over and showed it to me today. . .it’s rad and pretty funny. It had me laughing.

Anyhow, here are some of the things I drew – I just put them together for now in Illustrator. I’m going to redraw this into an original and/or print. Okay that’s about it.

Narwhal Tattoo Design

Hsiung—Narwhal-beer-mug

I recently got an email from a fellow in the UK about designing a tattoo for him. He wanted the tattoo on his shoulder above his tattoo of a mermaid playing the accordion, which he later sent me and is amazing. (Yes, I was a bit nervous). His good friend is turning 30 in March and they are getting tattooed together. He mentioned having a narwhal drinking a beer with a scroll. . . the idea is based on the fact that The Narwhals is the name of his pub quiz team. I started out with some sketches of narwhals impaling beer, to being wrapped around a beer can, but the beer mug ended up being the most appropriate for the pub quiz team type of feeling. I put on a phrase my buddy Brian says – Remember Fun – which is great and fits well.

Someone just forwarded me this photo from the Fresh Pressed Opening waaaayyy waayy back in 2009. That was a fun show – t-shirt screens, prints, and live music by Nathaniel Eras (Track Number Records). My friend Hovin says I look terrified and I think he’s correct. I don’t remember the situation, but I think I was sort of uncomfortable. Ha ha.

I’ve been working on designing the new cover for a local Los Angeles, band called the Henry Clay People. They are super nice guys who have had me design for their 7 inch, CD, shirts, and etc.! This is of course an early draft – the text has to be put in, but hopefully you’ll be seeing it soon in stores.
